Performance Creation Canada

Performance Creation Canada (PCC) is a new Canada-wide network dedicated to all aspects of the creation, presentation, dissemination and documentation of original theatre, dance, music and performance art. Created in January 2004, PCC is a collaboration between artists, funding bodies, presenters, agents, and the network of Canadian Performing Arts Festivals. PCC is modeled on the Informal European Theatre Meeting, a European networking initiative, which has revolutionized performance and presentation on the continent, by spearheading innovative partnerships and disseminating new models of producing and showcasing work in the field of performance. PCC conferences link the local host community with national delegates and dignitaries in an atmosphere of sharing, problem solving, and forward thinking about the future of our respective artistic mediums. Hosting a PCC conference in Regina opens new market possibilities for artists, and companies who are interested in touring their work opening the margins, and also provides our artistic community with the opportunity to develop new networks with other artists and potential presenters, producers, agents, and funding bodies.

Like past events, the Performance Creation Canada Regina conference is timed to be linked to festival events. January 2004, in Calgary it was part of One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo – a festival of new and experimental work, July 2004 Artistic Fraud of St. John’s Newfoundland timed it with the Sound Symposium festival, and in February 2005 it was organized around Vancouver’s Push International Performance Festival curated by Touchstone Theatre and Rumble Productions.
